Onimusha is a “Beat em up” swordfighting fantasy game set in Feudal Japan 500 years in the past. In this fantasy reality, humans have been fighting hordes and armies of Demons intent on world domination. The main protagonist of the game “Samonusuke”, a samurai by profession, is called demon-warrior ironically for the fact that the term “Oni” relates to demons, ogres, and trolls in Japan. He poses various magic powers which he uses to channel energy to various Samurai weapons he uses. Onimusha is both a fantasy game for its inclination to various Fantasy type elements as well as a Historical game as to its strict attachment to Japanese Culture, events, and characters.
