The Dromedary, or Arabian Camel is one of the most remarkable creatures in the Earth. A native of the arabian peninsula, the Dromedary is a one-humped even toed ungulate used by desert dwellers as a “Beast of burden” used to transport both cargo and travellers through the harsh conditions of the Middle Eastern desert. This specie of Camel only has one hump, as opposed to its cousin the Bactrian camel which has two. Adult dromedaries grow up to 8 feet tall, and 12 feet long. Dromedaries were first domesticated around 4000 years ago, and are natives of the arabian peninsula. Most dromedaries are still currently at work in majority of the Arabian provinces, and other middle eastern countries. Unlike horses, Dromedaries tend to be i’ll tempered and are known to spit and kick at humans. Nevertheless, the Dromedary is still a gentle animal, that when properly taken cared of, will take care of you as well. Unfortunately, the Dromedary is becoming extinct in the Arabian wild. Various environmental agencies help provide, and take care of these creatures by getting them in reserves and protecting them from poachers and hunters.
